Long Before the Tones Drop: Planning for Emergency Response
Being ready for the next emergency starts long before the tones drop.
West Metro Fire Rescue is responding to more calls than ever before, while the emergencies we face continue to evolve. Medical emergencies now make up 60% of our calls, but our firefighters also train for wildfires, technical rescues, hazardous materials incidents, dive and swift water rescues, and active threats.
At the same time, the cost of equipment, training, and emergency response continues to rise, while the way Colorado fire districts are funded has changed.
Planning for the future of emergency response has become more challenging.
